Motorola has unleashed the Moto X Play into India at a price of Rs 18,499. The smartphone will be sold exclusively on Flipkart starting tonight.

Running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the Moto X Play features a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution that accounts to 403ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The highlight of the smartphone is its 3650mAh battery unit that Motorola claims to last for 48 hours.

We have seen Motorola Turbo delivering excellent results with its 3900mAh battery and are looking forward to test the battery on the Moto X Play. Motorola has bumped up the rear camera to 21MP putting it right in front of Sony Xperia Z3+ and, it can record 4k videos also. The front of the smartphone is equipped with a 5MP shooter.

The smartphone is backed by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC with 2GB RAM which is also seen on the Xiaomi Mi 4i and Nubia Z9 Mini for much less pricing. Motorola had already raised the bar by making the new Moto G (2015) durable, but Moto X Play sadly, has been deprived of those features.

Moto X Play will be available in 16GB and 32GB storage variants, priced at Rs 18,499 and Rs 19,999 respectively. For the first time, Motorola has opted to go with expandable storage on Moto X series. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone gets 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 and Bluetooth 4.0 among others. At this price point, Moto X Play vies for space amongst OnePlus 2, Sony Aqua M4 and other devices from fellow Chinese counterparts.
