    Design
Yunique has the similar round edges, a large circular metal ring with a flash around the camera and a rubberized matte finish back panel that we saw in Yuphoria. However, to cut corners the company opted for plastic frame against the metal frame we saw on Yuphoria. Yet the smartphone looks and feels premium as the company has used quality plastic.
We really liked the compact form factor of Yunique, which is perfect for one hand operation. The power button sits nicely between the volume rockers on the right edge, which makes it easy to access.

The soft rubberized back panel goes to the curved edges and offers a good grip. Interestingly, Yunique has a removable back panel but the battery is non-removable.

    Display
At this price range, Yunique is the only smartphone to offer a 4.7-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Phicomm energy 653 is another under5k phone that has a 720p display, but it does not come equipped with the Gorilla Glass.

At first, we had our doubts about Yunique's display quality, but boy, we were wrong. Its small screen size i.e. 4.7-inch screen works in its favour, and delivers crisp content. The images, text, icons, etc. look sharp; no pixilation issues cropped up like we saw on the Moto E (2015). The colour reproduction was balanced, but somehow we felt that the colours were a bit washed out. The sunlight legibility was another concern area, but that could easily be dealt with by using a matte finish screen guard.

    Hardware
At a price of Rs 4,999; Yunique is offering 4G connectivity that puts Moto E, Canvas Spark and some other smartphones to shame. In addition, it has an impressive spec sheet too. It packs in a quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor clocked at 1.2GHz; 1GB of RAM; and Adreno 306 GPU for graphics-intensive tasks.

Out of 8GB inbuilt storage, 4.61GB is available that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The smartphone also supports USB on-the-go (OTG) that comes in quite handy.

    Software
Cyanogen has always been the USP of Yu devices, but this time Yu opted for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. You get stock Android with pre-installed application-Yu universe, a modified camera UI and a slightly different gallery application. This makes Yunique the second smartphone running stock Android OS at such a low price point. The first one was Micromax Canvas Spark. Interestingly, you can also root the smartphone and install Cyanogen OS 12.1 without getting worried about voiding the warranty as Yu promised that it will offer the required support.

We did not encounter any issues with the software performance of the smartphone, just some minor lags when more than 10 applications were simultaneously running in the background. Also we did witness any app crashes during the review.

    Performance
We were not expecting Yunique to fight the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo's budget A series devices and other similar-priced phones. However, we must say it gave them all a tough fight.

Yunique can be used to simultaneously browse multiple Web pages, post pictures on Facebook, Instagram, record videos without any issues. However, you will feel disappointed if you try to push the 1GB RAM to its limits.

We also ran the standard benchmarks and the performance delivered by the Snapdragon octa-core CPU can be seen in the graphs below.
