The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing or C-DAC is developing a new operating system called Bharat Operating System Solutions or simply known as BOSS, which is supposed to replace Microsoft Windows operating systems running in government offices around the country.
This new operating system will supposedly roll out as soon as this week, although we think it will take a while to become a common fixture in all government offices across the country.
This OS has been developed with security in mind and uses secure protocols to make it less vulnerable or almost impossible to a hacking attempt. An official familiar with the matter said "We have no dearth of developers here. BOSS has almost all the features that one can get in, say, Windows. The earlier version was less user-friendly and had few features. We will seek help of Indian software biggies to develop it further"
Microsoft Windows has been part of several security hacks across the world, with US and China being some of the prominent nations. This is an excellent initiative by the Indian Government and goes to show that they're willing to do something about cyber security. It is hoped that this new version of BOSS will see quicker updates and more features added overtime.
