Budget ranged ASUS ZenFone Go launched in India at Rs 7,999

ASUS has just revealed the low cost ZenFone Go handset in India, carrying a budget ranged hardware. The smartphone went official last month, so it's a relatively new device.

We've seen ASUS India pushing the release of multiple ZenFone devices over the past month or so, with the ZenFone Selfie, ZenFone 2 Laser, ZenFone Deluxe etc breaking cover recently.

The ZenFone Go is in a different price segment though with a price tag of Rs 7,999, so it will appeal to a different market segment. To make the device more attractive to the customers, ASUS is offering 100GB of Google Drive storage with the handset. This is valid for a period of two years.

Surprisingly, ASUS doesn't have 4G LTE support on the ZenFone Go, so customers will have to make do with 3G. This could be vital for the company given that most smartphones in the sub-Rs 7,000 segment have support for LTE.

There's no word about an exclusivity, but only Flipkart has the device listed at the moment with a "coming soon" sticker. The handset will be sold in black, white and red color variants.

Peter Chang, Manager, Asus India, said, "We are excited to announce the availability of Zenfone Go for our Indian users. Being the third largest home to smartphone users, India is a critical market for us and we intend to bring cutting edge products to consumers here, who seek power packed design sensibilities of a high-end smartphone at competitive prices."

Hardware specifications of the ZenFone Go:

· 5-inch HD (1280x720) display
· Quad core 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6580 processor
· 8MP rear camera
· 2MP front camera
· 2GB RAM
· 8GB storage (expandable via microSD)
· Android 5.1 Lollipop
· 2,070 mAh battery
· Dual SIM support with 3G
